My name is Nick Cummings and I am the owner/operator of Hendersonville Dog Training. After graduating from Western Carolina University with a degree in criminal justice, I enjoyed an eight-year career at the Fletcher Police Department.

Although I enjoyed my career, I was ready for a new chapter in my life and decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in Information Technology. I enjoyed the challenges of that field, but I felt like something was still missing and it wasn’t my passion in life. 

Finding that passion is something that we all strive for. I found myself spending my free time with my wife (Rachel) and our rescue dog Mark. We love being outdoors and made it a point to include Mark whenever possible, and we began training him.  This helped us develop a stronger relationship with Mark and I discovered that I felt more comfortable than I ever have. This gave me the confidence to explore dog training as a possible career.

I reached out to Brad Howell, an old friend and experienced dog trainer located in Greensboro, NC.  Brad owns Red Beard Dog Training and has experience with a wide range of dog issues and behaviors. Brad encouraged me to pursue this passion and invited me down to train under his tutelage in an intensive training program that prepared me to handle dogs with different backgrounds and challenges. Training with these dogs has given me the confidence to pursue this passion and I look forward to sharing it with you. 

I like to use a balanced approach to training and keeping things simple which will help yield real results. My training focuses on leash walking, command response, and off leash reliability with the use of a mini educator.
